Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign, an orthodontic treatment, uses clear plastic molds called aligners. You click the aligners over your teeth, wearing them for 20-22 hours a day to gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. Every 1-2 weeks, you switch to a new set of aligners until your teeth shift to their ideal final positions.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Dr. Rendon will evaluate your smile to determine if Invisalign is the right way to straighten your teeth. Invisalign can correct mild-to-moderate misalignment, but it can help with some severe cases as well.

Invisalign can treat all of the following problems:

  • Overbite — your top arch overlaps the bottom one
  • Underbite — your bottom arch overlaps the top one
  • Open bite — your top and bottom arches don’t meet when you close your mouth
  • Gaps between teeth — spaces between your teeth
  • Crossbite — your top and bottom jaw aren’t correctly aligned
  • Crowded mouth — your jaw is too small for your teeth
  • Mix of primary and adult teeth — phase one treatment for tweens

Dr. Rendon can discuss your orthodontic treatment needs and explain how Invisalign can help.

How does Invisalign treatment planning work?

At Nicholas G. Rendon, DDS, your treatment planning starts with a series of digital mouth scans. Dr. Rendon evaluates your scans and then uses the ClinCheck® software to design your treatment plan.

He can map your whole treatment in stages, start-to-finish, and can even show you a preview of your final outcome. Dr. Rendon sends the treatment plan to the Invisalign lab, where the technicians make your custom aligners.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Everyone’s different, but the average total treatment time is 12-18 months. You could notice improvements in only weeks, though.

Can I afford Invisalign treatment?

Most patients find that Invisalign is more affordable than they think. The cost is roughly the same as that of metal braces. Dr. Rendon wants to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to straighten their teeth, so he’s happy to discuss payment options with you.

If your dental insurance covers Invisalign, he can help you file the claim. If not, there are still options like the in-house discount plan, so don’t hesitate to ask how you can cover the cost of Invisalign.
