Porcelain Veneers Seamlessly Conceal Imperfections

An otherwise beautiful smile can be diminished by imperfections such as chips, gaps, or stains. Porcelain veneers are thin shells which are placed over the front of teeth to effectively mask cosmetic concerns. Dr. Nicholas G. Rendon offers incredibly realistic porcelain veneers at our Vero Beach, FL, practice. Each veneer is handcrafted at a trusted dental lab using the highest quality materials. Dr. Rendon has been helping patients achieve beautiful, natural-looking results using custom veneers for 30 years.

Should I Consider Veneers?

Porcelain veneers can provide an excellent solution for patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their smile. Common concerns include:

  • Chips or cracks
  • Short or worn teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Stains which do not respond to whitening
  • Slight overcrowding
  • Small gaps between teeth

This treatment may also be useful for patients with minor misalignment since veneers can create the appearance of a straighter smile. However, for patients with more severe orthodontic issues, we also offer Fastbraces® and traditional braces.

Dr. Rendon has been helping patients achieve beautiful, natural-looking results using custom veneers for 30 years.

It is also important that any patient considering veneers has good oral and periodontal health. During your consultation, Dr. Rendon will discuss your goals and evaluate your oral health to determine the procedure is right for you.

Preparing for Treatment

During the treatment planning process, you will be provided with a mock-up to see what your new and improved smile will look like. Any changes can be made at this time to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the outcome.

To prepare the treated teeth, Dr. Rendon will first remove a small amount of enamel. This step is essential to providing natural-looking results and ensure that the veneers bond properly. Dental impressions are then taken, which will be used to create your customized restorations. In many cases, patients are provided with temporary veneers until their following appointment.

Placing Your Veneers

Once your veneers have been returned from the lab, about two to three weeks later, you will return to our office to have them placed. After the temporaries are removed, a bonding agent will be applied to roughen the surface of the teeth. A specialized dental cement will then be used to attach the veneers. Lastly, a curing light will be used to harden the cement, securing your veneers in place.

Alternative Treatments

Traditional veneers are a trusted solution for most concerns, but some patients may qualify for minimal-prep or same-day alternatives.

Minimal-Prep Veneers

Patients who only require subtle changes, or have small or worn teeth, may be candidates for minimal-preparation veneers. Minimal-prep veneers provide comparable results to traditional veneers but are much thinner. These restorations can be placed with little to no alteration of your tooth enamel, meaning that the treatment can be reversed in the future. We may not recommend this solution for patients with larger teeth as the effects could look bulky.

Dental Bonding

Often called chairside veneers or composite veneers, dental bonding is an affordable alternative and can enhance your smile in just one appointment. Composite resin can effectively fill gaps, conceal stains, and address similar concerns as veneers, but the material is not quite as lifelike. It can also be stained more easily by coffee, cigarettes, and other substances.
