Dental Implants: A Superior Solution for Missing Teeth
Even a single missing tooth can have a significant impact on your overall oral health, resulting in jawbone atrophy and other serious conditions. Dental implants are recognized as the best treatment for tooth loss, providing a stable, long-term solution that offers patients peace of mind. These titanium posts are secured within the jawbone and restored with custom-made restorations, completely replacing the natural tooth structure from root to crown. Dr. Nicholas G. Rendon places and restores dental implants at our Vero Beach, FL, practice. A member of the American Society of Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry (ASIRD), he has undergone extensive training in this advanced treatment.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Dental implants are biocompatible titanium posts that are surgically implanted within the jawbone. They are the only treatment method which stimulates the jaw like natural teeth, preventing the bone loss which occurs after teeth are lost or extracted. For this reason, dental implants are widely considered the gold standard in tooth replacement. Implant-supported restorations offer unparalleled benefits compared to traditional restorative methods, including:
- Incredibly life-like results
- Preserve a strong, healthy jaw
- Fully restored ability to eat and speak normally
- Comfortable, stable fit
This option is more costly but many patients consider implants an investment in their overall quality of life. Our practice accepts financing through CareCredit® and LendingClub, and we also have a patient loyalty discount plan.
Types of Dental Implants
Dr. Rendon typically recommends traditional implants but he also offers:
- Mini Implants
- This alternative to the traditional post is smaller in both length and diameter. It is best suited for patients with bone loss or inadequate bone density.
- The All-on-4 technique uses just four strategically placed implants to secure a full denture. It is often recommended for patients who have suffered bone atrophy and allows them to avoid a preparatory grafting procedure.
What to Expect during Treatment
To ensure that his patients are receiving the highest level of care, Dr. Rendon has completed implant training through the ASIRD. This education has provided him with the skills to safely and accurately place implants. However, Dr. Rendon may refer especially complex cases to an oral surgeon within the prestigious ASIRD group.

Once we have confirmed you are a good candidate, dental implants treatment requires several steps. During the first portion, Dr. Rendon will place one or more implants. Once the treatment area has been numbed with local anesthesia, he will make incisions in the gums, create small pilot holes in the jaw, and insert the posts. The jawbone and implants will then fuse together during a process known as osseointegration. Patients typically need four to six months to fully heal and are provided with a temporary restoration during this time.
Once the posts are securely fused to the bone, you will return to our office. We will take impressions and place special connector pieces, called abutments. Roughly two weeks later, Dr. Rendon can attach your customized dental crown, bridge, or denture.
